It is your opportunity to join an organisation that will help you realise a career in science... an opportunity to reach out with your ideas... an opportunity to contribute to the growth of Science and Technology in Uganda.

UNAS brings together a diverse group of scientists from the physical, biological and social/behavioral sciences, working together in an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary manner.

Every aspiring member applies to the Chairperson of UNAS in writing, stating his/her qualifications and the membership status sought. The different categories of membership are:

MEMBERSHIP

Membership to the Academy is normally honorific in nature and mainly consists of active scientists who are citizens of Uganda or otherwise who have, according to internationally accepted standards, made outstanding contributions to their respective field(s) of science.

  1. Founding Members
  2. Fellows of the Academy
  3. Foreign Fellows
  4. Honorary Fellows

1) Founding Members are the scientists that came together to found the Academy on October 20th, 2002.

2) Fellows of the Academy are the core of the Academy and eminent Ugandan scientists identified and honoured by the academy for their proven oustanding contribution to and achievements in their respective field(s) of science.

3) A Foreign fellows are elected from amongst scientists who are not citizens of Uganda, but who have made significant contributions to any field of sciences, provided that such Foreign fellows meet the same criteria for membership.

4) Honorary fellows are elected by the General Assemby from amongst persons of eminence or highest standing in society who have made outstanding contributions to the objectives of the Academy but such membership shall not entitle the holder to vote in the General Assembly or to hold elective office within the Academy.
